Smoke Fest 2010

With summer well on the way – plans for Smoke’s very own festival are being finalised.

Forget Glastonbury and Reading, ‘Smoke Fest’ is where you need to be this summer. From the 17th May right through until the 21st, Smoke will be broadcasting from each campus bringing you live bands, singers and MCs. We will round the week off in Smoke’s home Harrow campus with even more festival fun.

Keep checking back to the Smoke website and keep your eyes peeled around the university for posters with more details about the event.

If you want to get involved with the week long event, be it performing live on air or helping us with the promotion – drop us an e-mail at committee@smokeradio.co.uk. We would love to have you on board!

26 Hour broadcast!

Smoke’s marathon 26 hour broadcast is in full swing!

The Smoke team are working hard up in the Harrow radio studios to keep things running smoothly. You can catch all the action LIVE on ustream or of course listen to Smoke in the usual way.

There is a special schedule running throughout the day – and night – mixing the specialist and the daytime shows together.

We’ve also got some tickets to give away to the JD set in Camden next May. The gig sees Shy Child, Infadels, Shortwave Set, Kids on Bridges and The Pipettes all performing – the winners will also get a free goodie bag full of JD merch! What more could you ask for?!

Get involved with this special event on the shoutbox and leave us your comments here!

Send your applications over to application@smokeradio.co.uk outlining what you would bring to the role by Monday 10th May and the current Smoke team will review all the applications.

We’re back!

After stuffing ourselves silly with Easter eggs, the Smoke Radio team are back doing what they do best – making awesome radio!

We will be here getting you through the final stages of this academic year. So whether you’re cramming in as much as revision as possible before exams or desperately trying to get all your coursework done before deadline day, make sure you keep your ears tuned to Smoke.

We will of course be bringing you all the latest news on the Elections – the national ones and the university ones! – and special broadcasts throughout the coming weeks.

Lurve at the ‘Croft

Smoke valentineTonight sees Smoke Radio host a very special night at Harrow’s Undercroft bar.

Yesterday Inter:Mission was turned into a temple of love in celebration of Saint Valentine and tonight it is the ‘Croft’s turn.

If you are single, taken or in that horrible stage where you are in between – head down to the Harrow bar this evening from 8pm. You can treat your other half or your current crush to a cheap drink and some candy floss and enjoy the talents of our very own Smoke Radio DJs all the way through ’til midnight.

See you there lovers!

All you need is love

loveIt’s Valentine’s week on Smoke Radio.

Smoke are feeling all fluffy and loved up this week and we want to share this with you! The website has a lovely Valentine’s theme, we’ve got Matty and Manish hosting a very special request show, you can leave your love notes for your secret crush on the website (anonymously of course!) and of course there is a lovely party at Harrow’s Undercroft bar on Friday.

And just so news isn’t left out, the news will be coming to you in pink this week!

So whether your single, taken or somewhere in between make sure you are tuned into Smoke this week to get into the romantic spirit.

Battery Powered – tonight!

battery

The first Battery Powered event takes place at Area 51 this evening.

If you came down to Smoke Live before Christmas, make sure you head over to Area for more of the same, but bigger and better. There will be something for everyone as we’ve got live performances from bands, acoustic performers and MCs.

The event kicks off at 8.30 at Area and there is a special ‘Westminster’s Finest’ build up show on Smoke at 8. Entrance is just £1 – bargain.

If for some reason you can’t get down to Area (we hope you have a good excuse) you can listen to the whole thing live on Smoke Radio. We are too good to you.

See you there!

Cavendish Re-freshers

The Cavendish re-freshers fair kicks off tomorrow at midday.

The fair gives all students the opportunity to sign up to various societies at the university. If you missed out on anything at the freshers fair in October, this is your chance to make amends!

The fair runs from 12 until 4 at the Cavendish site so you’ve got plenty of time to get down there.

Look out for the Smoke Radio team – come and say hello!
