Barcelona could have a fight on their hands if they want to secure the services of Cesc Fabregas next season.

They may have confirmed the signing of David Villa today for 40 million euros, but they may have to wait for the Arsenal captain. Fabregas is on a long term contract at Arsenal which does not expire until 2014. Arsene Wenger has always made it clear that Fabregas is part of his long term plan at the club and is reluctant to sell his talisman to the Catalan club.

There has been speculation for many seasons about the Spaniard returning to his home town but has always stated his commitment to the North London club. With Wenger handing him the captaincy and making him one of the highest earners at the club, it was thought he would remain at the club for at least one more season.

However, with another trophyless season at The Emirates, it appears Fabregas is becoming restless. It is reported that he has told the boss he wants to leave but Arsenal are stating they have not received an official bid for the player and that he is not for sell. Barcelona are apparently set to bid £30 million for Fabregas but Arsenal value their captain at £40 million.
